A 9-Year-Old Colorado Boy Wants Town to End Its Ban on Snowballs

Snowball fights are the best!! But sadly one Colorado town doesn't allow them. As a matter of fact they are technically illegal!

Severance is a town known for balls, Rocky Mountain Oysters, but they don't allow snowballs.

Currently, under section 10-5-80 of the municipal code, it's illegal to have a snowball fight. It reads: "It is unlawful for any person to throw or shoot any stone or any other missile upon or at any person, animal, building, tree or other public or private property; or at or against any vehicle or equipment designed for the transportation of persons or property.”

Older municipal code books that are still in use specifically define a snowball as a missile, according to the assistant to the Town Administrator.

Dane Best, a third grade student at Range View Elementary School, is leading the charge to change the law. He spoke at the town board meeting on Nov. 5th, and will again tonight Dec. 3rd.

Maybe he has a future in politics?
