Russell Crowe's Jockstrap May Save One of the Last Blockbuster Stores

One of the things I miss most from my childhood is trips to the Blockbuster to rent movies and load up on candy. I thought those days were over and all the Blockbusters had closed. I was wrong, but they are hanging on by a jockstrap...

A few weeks ago, Russell Crowe sold the jockstrap he wore during the 2005 film Cinderella Man to the highest bidder at an event he dubbed his "divorce auction."

That bidder was none other than Last Week Tonight host John Oliver, who promptly donated the undergarment to one of America's last Blockbuster video stores in Anchorage, Alaska.

That Blockbuster is now banking on Crowe's jockstrap, with manager Kevin Daymude telling the AP, "We're going to get a lot of traffic." Daymude adds that Crowe's jewel carrier is "the very first jockstrap memorabilia" his store has ever featured.

A trip to Alaska, anyone?!
