Tim Tebow Homers in First At-Bat for a Team Called the Rumble Ponies
Just as I was thinking Tim Tebow may have a future in baseball after he homered in his very first at-bat with his new Double-A team, I found out their name and I am questioning just how big of a deal this is...
They are the Binghamton (N.Y.) Rumble Ponies. What the heck is a Rumble Pony?!
On Thursday night, the former football star, who's now a New York Mets outfield prospect, did the very same thing on his first at-bat last season with the Mets' Single-A affiliate in South Carolina.
While Mets chief operating officer Jeff Wilpon described Tebow as merely "another ballplayer," the ex-quarterback's 2018 debut was enough for Wilson to head north from the Big Apple to get a gander at the 30-year-old, who the AP describes as "the organization's most unusual prospect."
Now back to Rumble Ponies...
