If you're from Colorado, you have probably traveled, told someone what state you're from, and gotten some sort of snide marijuana reference in response. Yeah, it's because of things like this...
Mike Jeffcoat, a former Major League pitcher who’s now the head baseball coach at Texas Wesleyan University, doesn’t like recruiting players from Colorado—not because they suck, but because marijuana is legal in that state.
“In the past, players have had trouble passing our drug test,” Jeffcoat wrote in an email to a high school prospect in Colorado. “We have made a decision to not take a chance on student-athletes from your state. You can thank your liberal politicians."
Texas Wesleyan has since fired Jeffcoat.
