After a week out sick with COVID, Lunchbox was back in the studio today. He felt great and believed he was ready to return earlier, but the rest of the show insisted he stay home due to being contagious.
The group told him that regardless of the illness, whether it was COVID or something else, the priority was preventing it from spreading. Lunchbox had tested positive for COVID after initially being too sick to come in or speak. The show addressed reactions from listeners online, where some were questioning the severity of COVID, but the cast reiterated that any illness means "stay home." Bobby pointed out to Lunchbox that Morgan's slew of health issues with vertigo, long COVID, and various ailments could be linked to being exposed to illness all the time at the studio. However, Lunchbox doesn't think it's connected to him because Morgan got sick before he did, which then turned into a debate of who showed up to the studio with COVID first and all signs pointed to Eddie.
However, many of the show members have gotten sick before because of Lunchbox so it's hard not to connect a few dots. Bobby shared an example of riding in a golf cart with Lunchbox before he got sick, noting that he became ill shortly after. Lunchbox thinks it could have come from anyone, while others pushed back on that claim. The show then joked about how frequently Lunchbox gets sick, estimating it happens every few weeks. Lunchbox defended himself by checking his calendar and saying the last time he was sick was nearly two months prior. Despite that, the others argued that even occasional absences still felt frequent compared to the rest of the show.
The discussion moved to other ongoing health issues Lunchbox has been dealing with, including lingering pain in his lower abdomen and testicle area. He has seen multiple doctors and specialists, including undergoing an MRI, but has not received a clear diagnosis. According to Lunchbox, doctors have told him they are unsure what is causing the pain. The rest of the show questioned whether doctors would actually say they “don’t know” without offering next steps, suggesting instead that they likely provided possible explanations or referrals. Lunchbox maintained that he has been sent between different providers without clear answers, though he said a physical therapist has been working with him on exercises targeting the affected area. The pain comes and goes, sometimes allowing him to play soccer without issue, while other times it returns after a short period of activity. Bobby then offered to bring in a doctor into the studio to examine Lunchbox and potentially figure out the issue. Lunchbox suggested finding a physician who works with professional athletes, believing they might have more experience diagnosing complex injuries.
So time will only tell if the show can get Lunchbox an official diagnosis on this latest lingering pain, but at least he's back after a week of being sick!
