TMSG: New Jersey Officers Stepping Up To Deliver Groceries To Elderly

Amid the coronavirus outbreak, police officers with the Sayreville Police Department have been keeping busy by helping the vulnerable residents in their area.

Lt. James Novak along with the police department's Community Outreach unit including Sgts. Tom Sheehan, Brian Braile, and Angela Maot, have been delivering the essential items to home-bound seniors in their community. Novak shared with My Central Jersey, "We wanted to help limit their exposure to the coronavirus."

Their efforts were widely recognized in the community, so much so that others really wanted to help them help the elderly. They shared on their Facebook page,

Due to the Sayreville Community’s overwhelming desire to help during this unprecedented event, we are launching our “Sunday Dinner” initiative. We will be accepting monetary donations through the link below. The money raised will be used to purchase hot meals from local restaurants and delivered by the Police Department to the neediest homebound senior citizens in our town. This effort will not only help the senior citizens but also the local businesses that are struggling as well... (cont. below).
