Chris Stapleton revealed a 30-second teaser of an epic new Monday Night Football anthem, slated to make its official premiere on ESPN on Monday night (September 18). The award-winning country megastar teamed up with rap icon Snoop Dogg and powerhouse drummer Cindy Blackman Santana on the new collaboration.
The genre-blending trio joined forces to cover “In The Air Tonight,” the smash-hit released by Phil Collins in the early 1980s. The reimagined version of the song will premiere on ESPN and on ABC, as the New Orleans Saints take on the Carolina Panthers, and the Cleveland Browns go head-to-head against the Pittsburgh Steelers, respectively. The new open will continue ahead of all Monday Night Football Games, in addition to the Week 18 Saturday Doubleheader, Super Wild Card and first Divisional playoff game, per ESPN’s announcement on Monday. Viewers will Monday Night Football’s theme music, leading into Joe Buck, Troy Aikman and Lisa Salters’ call of the game, following the new open, a press release states.
